Clean oral hygiene is a prerequisite for a successful orthodontic treatment.

Orthodontic toothbrushes and interdental brushes have a special form and size and are designed to fit comfortably between the teeth and the archwire.

Brushing the teeth can only clean 3/4 of the whole tooth surface. Using dental floss helps to remove plaque between the teeth and gums, which helps to avoid gingivitis. A special orthodontic floss has a waxed end, which makes it easy to gain access under the archwire. This kind of floss can also be used to clean the retention wire.

There is a special brace wax that can be put on the brace, when it starts disturbing and chafing the cheek.

The most common causes of disturbance are the braces in the back of the mouth. Putting wax on them makes this area more smooth.

Bacterial plaque damages the surface of the teeth and causes remineralisation, which is the cause of white spots on the teeth. These white spots are especially visible after the removal of braces. Defects caused by bad oral hygiene can only be made aesthetic by using dental fillings.

In addition to regular brushing using a toothpaste in the morning and at night, mouthwash and dental floss should also be used. Gum Sunstar has worked out special hygiene products for patients with braces.

Aftamed helps with mucosal abrasions by immediately relieving pain and helping the tissue recover faster.
